With an auto reload feature, and a balance that I’m certainly never going to use in the time remaining here, I wanted to see how easy it would be to get my money back (anticipating not at all) from ParkChicago. If you’ve never used the service, it’s a way to link your vehicle to a nearby parking zone and pay for parking via an app, instead of cash/card. It is very convenient and really helps when you need to refill the meter, but you’re nowhere near your car.
I’ve accepted a position within my company to move to our London office. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Not necessarily move to London, but move back overseas where I grew up and spent the first 13 years of my life. I moved to the US in the winter of ’98 and have made my way from Columbus, OH to Chicago, IL. Hitting the 9.5 year mark the month I move will be quite sobering, I’ve never lived in a city for more than 4 years in my life, and this was a place I thought I might never leave. Such is life, and opportunity knocks.
Now that it’s time for a return, there’s a lot to consider. I’ve got a family now and that creates more complexity. I’ve got to personally worry about going back to Metric, carrying an umbrella around all the time, and testing my true British nature with a morning tea instead of coffee. Some of the bigger concerns are obvious though, like where are we going to live? What I’m really interested in is chronicling the finer details that don’t pop into mind at first like “what cell phone service should I use?”. So consider this my intro, let’s see where this thing takes us.
